How To Shower After Microblading?

For people with thin sparse eyebrows who are just tired of filling them in every time, microblading offers the ideal solution to end this daily hassle. However, to get the best results strict adherence to aftercare is a must.

As such, in this blog, we will learn more about how to better take care of your brows after a microblading procedure.

What Does Microblading Entail?

Before we dive into answering after-care questions let’s first understand what microblading entails.

This semi-permanent cosmetic procedure creates artificial hair strokes along your eyebrows giving them a fuller darker look.

Microblading uses a hand tool with a blade that only penetrate through the upper layers of the skin. A trained artist makes tiny lines that resemble hair strokes.

This procedure is non-invasive and requires no surgery or stitches. You are also likely to feel little to no pain during the entire process, unlike other permanent cosmetic treatments.

The main purpose of microblading is to fill sparse and thin eyebrows to help enhance the appearance of your eyebrows.

The pigment used is designed to fade over time so touch ups are required every so often to keep your brows looking fresh and perfect.

How To Shower After Microblading?

After the procedure, you are not allowed to get direct water on the brows to prevent any pigment loss or complications in the healing process due to moisture.

To help ensure that you are keeping your brows clean yet dry post-procedure here is a guide on how to shower after microblading.

Avoid The Following:

Factors such as water, and sweating can alter the shade of your brows and create other complications. As such, it is best to avoid taking saunas, swimming, or working out post-procedure.

It is also best to avoid essential oils except for the ones your artist has recommended you for aftercare. Aloe Vera cream and serums can be used to hydrate your skin but make sure you avoid oversaturation.

Dry Healing vs Wet Healing

Typically after a microblading procedure, one needs to clean their eyebrows every hour using a cotton pad and water.

There are two types of healing processes - dry healing and wet healing;

Dry Healing

Dry healing is the more traditional way of keeping your brows clean which some artists still recommend. As the name suggests, this process doesn’t involve wetting your eyebrows.

After the procedure, you are simply not allowed to touch your eyebrows until they are fully healed. The only con of this form of healing is that it leads to scabbing which makes the treated area quite itchy and sensitive.

Wet Healing

Wet healing is the more popular method that most artists use today. It involves cleaning your brows every hour shortly after the procedure.

In most cases, you will need to do this for at least the first day.

The benefit of this method is that there’s no scabbing and the treated area will heal more evenly.

Who Should Opt For Microblading?

Microblading is ideal for anyone who has thin, sparse, or no eyebrows at all as a result of illness, accident, or other reasons. It is also great for those wanting brows of a different style to compliment their looks and personality.

How Long Does It Last?

Results can last up from 1-2 years, sometimes even longer, depending on the person's skin, age, and aftercare regiment.

The outcome and quality of the results also largely depend on the artist performing the procedure. An amateur artist with little to no prior experience will never be able to deliver the results that a certified and experienced artist can deliver.

The quality of materials also plays a role in the end result. High-quality pigment lasts longer and fades much slower than cheaper unbranded pigments.

The Cost Of Microblading?

The cost of microblading depends on the location of the artist or studio, and the experience of the artist performing it.

Microblading is a lot more affordable in the UAE. In places like Dubai, you can expect to pay on average 1,000-3,000 AED for a microblading procedure depending on which studio or artist you choose to opt for
